Fleet Details

C&C Marine & Repair in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, will build GTT’s four new vessels to Robert Allan Ltd.’s RApport 2800H design, one of the most advanced escort tug platforms available, specifically engineered to meet the safety, maneuverability, and environmental requirements of modern LNG terminal operations. C&C’s facility and proven track record in complex new vessel construction make it uniquely suited to deliver a multi-vessel program of this scope.

RApport 2800-H hybrid

  • Length overall: 92′

  • Breadth, moulded: 40′

  • Depth, moulded: 17′

  • Draft, navigational: 18′

  • Bollard pull ahead: 88 metric tonnes/86 US long tons

The vessel is designed to American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) rules with the following Class Notation:

✠ A1 Escort Tug, Towing Service, FFV 1, Waterspray, ✠ AMS, UWILD, QR

The accommodations are outfitted for a crew of up to 6 with two double cabins and two single cabins.

The propulsion system of the RApport 2800-H utilizes a pair of Cummins QSK60-M diesel engines, rated at 2700 HP (2013 kW) at 1800 RPM coupled with a pair of electric motors, rated at 800 HP (600 KW) coupled to a pair of Kongsberg US255S FP Twin Input Z-drives units. These can be powered in four modes:

  • “Eco” mode for standby and transit, using only the two 800 HP (600 kW) electric motors

  • “Hybrid” mode for full power maneuvers using both the diesel engines and electric motors

  • “Mechanical” mode using only the main diesel engines

  • “FiFi” mode combines “Eco” mode for maneuvering with one main engine PTO powering the FiFi system

Electrical power is supplied by two large Cummins QSM19 diesel generator sets, ensuring redundancy and reliable operation for all onboard systems during towing operations. A smaller Cummins QSM11 generator will be used for lower load operation and harbor use.

The forward deck structure is designed to accommodate a 100HP model DMT towing winch.

Due to the high ambient temperatures on the Gulf Coast, larger-than-typical ventilation systems are installed to minimize engine room temperatures.

Ockerman Automation will design and integrate the hybrid propulsion and electrical control systems for the vessel. The vessel will be constructed by C&C Marine and Repair, Belle Chasse, LA.
